A preacher said to a woman, “Why do you doubt?  Don’t you know that without faith you cannot please God?  Surely you can trust in the word of God.  Your doubt is sinful.”

The Gadfly said, “Faith is not the absence of doubt.   Faith is the strength of our spirits to look up to the stars, when our doubts would have us bury our faces in the dirt.  The sureties of a mole tunneling through the darkness have no place in the heart of an eagle.  The one who has never had a doubt has never known faith.”
