OF RAGS AND RICHES

A man, who was not a Christian, questioned a church’s plan to run an extensive evangelism campaign in his town.

The pastor of that church said to him, “It is written in the Bible that the righteousness of the unsaved is like filthy rags.  You do not even know the Lord Jesus.  Do not presume to advise my church.”

The Gadfly spoke up saying; “It is a heart dear to God, who wears filthy rags in good faith.  But to put on the garb of piety with ambitious hands is to be a blossom, which perishes in spite of the abundance of spring.  The rags which the pious have cast aside shall cloak those who dwell in the heart of God.”
