THE STRENGTH OF FAITHA woman said, “Life can be so brutally cruel that I sometimes wonder if it can be of any good.” A pastor said to her, “The Bible is the infallible word of God. And it tells us that God’s creation is good. If God said it then I believe it. Do not entertain such thoughts, for they will weaken your faith in the absolute truth of God’s word.” The
Gadfly said, “A trembling soul cannot tolerate contradiction and weak, fearful
hearts seek refuge in absolutes. But the strength of our faith is manifest in
our ability to endure the dark questions and trials of life without guarantees.
Anyone might find the strength to walk upon a plush red carpet, wearing stained
glass blinders. But only the noble can walk barefoot down life’s path upon
shards of glass, and still be determined to entertain the idea that life is
worthy of their pain.” |
