FEAST OF THE BROKEN CUPThe Gadfly looked at the crowd and said, “You are like a thirsty person standing by a lake, desperately clutching a cup, which is full of the lake’s waters. I have seen so many of you grimly guarding your cups, lest you spill what little you have. I tell you, break your cups and cast them into the lake, though you tremble at the sound of the breaking, and feel faint as you lose sight of the sinking pieces. For, as the broken pieces settle to the bottom, the boundaries of your cup will dissolve to become the boundaries of the lake. And your thirst will be satisfied with great abundance.”
