TENDER HORIZONS

One day, the Gadfly said to his beloved, “I love you with all my heart.  And I would never choose to leave you.”

She said, “You touch upon my deepest blessings, and you sing a sacred song within the heart of my soul.  I love you dearly.  But you know that our spirits have their own journeys to complete.  And one day we may go down different paths.”

He said to her, “Shall I restrain my heart for fear of its heights?  Should I refuse to drink deeply for fear of life’s depths?  If my heart must sing of valleys and forests, but your heart needs sing of mountains and sky, our spirits will still meet at life’s horizons to encompass all that soars to the heavens and all that runs to the seas.  If one day I lose sight of my tender horizons, I may pour out the fullness of my tears.  But my love for you is deeper than my tears, and my joy is greater than the absence of pain.”
